Say it ain't so

On Friday, 12 October, some of the funniest folks in Oslo--Børge Brende and Heidi Sørensenare--are set to nominate one of the (unintentionally) funniest useful tools ever to arise from America.

For the Nobel Peace Prize. (Well, good grief, dear reader--It couldn't be for science.

If he is the recipient of the award he will join the ranks of 'peacemonger' Yasir Arafat, 'oil for my profit food' Kofi Annan, and the 'all time champion get-it-wrong guy' Jimmy Carter.

Each year the Peace prize is awarded to “the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity among nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”

Which brings us to the Goracle of Smellphi and his tireless efforts to propagandizemote his life's work opus An Inconvenient "Truth"--a film foisted upon tens of thousands of unwitting and quite intentionally science-enfeebled middle schoolers. You know...voters of the future. Al 'nature boy' Gore (I tried fly fishing once) is the hands-down expert on why we must reverse our progress and economies, buy and sell 'carbon credits', and revert to thatched-roof wattle and daub pedestrian lifestyles while elites like Gore can fly in private Gulfstream IVs.

There is a hope (held by the goresciples) that if he's honored by the Nobel Committee he could be drafted to run for the executive office in '08. Wouldn't that be a treat? The antiwar/environmentalists can line up for Gore and the Rodhamites can vote Hillary and the reality-based will prevail.

This is a turnpost
